WBB: Sooners Stumble in Ames

OU could not overcome poor shooting and foul trouble as the Sooners (14-5, 4-2) fell to the Iowa State Cyclones (16-3, 4-2), 56-63.

OU fell behind early because of foul trouble and being unable to block out, and trailed 21-33 at the half. The Sooners were able to limit the Cyclones to five points for the first 9 1/2 minutes of the second to pull within 35-38, but ISU was able to fend off the rally.

The game never acquired a rhythm as 50 fouls were called over the course of 40 minutes. OU had 28, with Danielle Robinson and Abi Olajuwan each fouling out, while Carlee Roethlisberger, Amanda Thompson, and Joanna McFarland each had 4. The teams shot a total of 56 free throws: 15 of 25 for OU and 22-31 for ISU.

Nyeshia Stevenson had 14 points for OU, but struggled shooting, finishing 1-6 from behind the arc. Amanda Thompson had 12 points and 10 rebounds while Danielle Robinson scored 10. Carlee Roethlisberger led a rally in the closing minutes and finished with 9 points and 7 boards.

Kelsy Bolte and Anne Prins each had 15 points for the Cyclones. ISU's main offensive threat, Allison Lacey, had 12, 10 of which came in the first half.

OU will play at Texas Tech on Saturday at 2:00.
