Sooners Drop One to Tennessee, 75-96

OU was able to hang close with the 4th ranked Lady Vols until midway through the second half, before Tenn. used their size and athleticism to wear down the no. 15 Sooners. OU started the hot, jumping out to a 17-8 lead early in the first, but then cooled down and trailed 39-45 at the break. Shekinna Stricklen had the second triple-double in Lady Vol history with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists.

Tennessee out-rebounded OU 26-46, with 20 of them coming on the offense. The Volunteers were also 10-16 from the three point line, for an incredible 62.5%.

OU held Tennessee to only 2 three pointers in the first, but were unable to contain Angie Bjorklund who finished with 25 points by shooting 5-8 from behind the arc.

Amanda Thompson led all scorers with a career high 26 points. She finished 10-13 from the field and grabbed 11 boards. Danielle Robinson scored 10 points and dished out 10 assists, but the Sooners definitely needed more scoring from their leader. Nyeshia Stevenson scored 17 points while Carlee Roethlisberger chipped in 14.

OU only played 7 players, one of which, Jasmine Hartman, only played when the game was far out of reach. The Sooners didn't get any points from their bench, either.

OU begins conference play on January 9, when they have a 3:30 date with Texas Tech at the Lloyd Noble Center.
