Sooners Win Big 12 Opener

OU WBB opened conference play with a 73-58 home victory over the Texas Tech Lady Raiders. The Sooners improved to 11-3 while Tech dropped to 12-3. Tech hung around for the majority of the game, but didn't connect on a field goal in the last 6:53. The Sooners were sloppy in the first half, committing 21 turnovers in the game.

Nyeshia Stevenson grabbed a career high 10 rebounds to go along with 11 points. Amanda Thompson built on her strong outing against Tennessee, leading the Sooners with 17 points. She also had 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Danielle Robinson spent much of the 1st half on the bench because of foul trouble but still finished with 15 points. Abi Olajuwan had 12 points, Carlee Roethlisberger has 8, and Joanna McFarland had 7.

OU shut down Jordan Murphree, who usually has strong outings vs. the Sooners, and held her to 0-8 field goals and only 2 points. OU led by 36-31 at the half and finally wore down the Raiders late in the second.

OU plays Wednesday at Baylor, who lost at OSU today.
