Sooners Take Down Cowboys

The Sooners battled hard and finally prevailed in overtime, 62-57, against the OSU Cowboys in Norman. The low scoring game went back and forth the entire span of the 45 minutes but OU ended on top. The Sooners improved to 10-6 overall and 1-1 in conference.

It was a very physical game that saw several injuries. Cowboy James Anderson left with 13 minutes left in the second half with a head injury, but did return later. Willie Warren was plagued once again with cramps, but remained in the game. Cade Davis was shaken up after a hard foul on a drive to the basket, but after laying on the court for a moment, he was able to shoot free throws and finish the game.

OU won by the combined efforts of Willie Warren, Tommy Mason-Griffin, Tiny Gallon, and Cade Davis. Warren struggled with turnovers, as he committed 7 of his team's total 15. But he did lead the Sooners with 15 points and had 7 of OU's 10 assists. TMG scored 14 along with 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and no giveaways. Tiny Gallon finished with 11 points, but was a monster on the boards and grabbed 18 rebounds. Cade Davis continued to give great effort and finished with 9 points and 3 steals.

After Anderson left the game, OU held OSU to only one made field goal over the next 12 minutes. TMG missed two game-clinching free throws with 10 seconds left, and Anderson made a lay up with 5 seconds remaining to force the OT.

OSU star James Anderson scored 18 points to lead all scorers in the game, and Marshall Moses chipped in 16 points and 13 rebounds. OSU only dished out 4 assists on the night.

Both teams were atrocious in free throw shooting: OU finished 12-23 for 52%, while OSU shot 14-23 for 61%. OU only shot 38% from the field, but was able to hold OSU to 28%, including 5-25 from behind the arc.

OU remain in Norman and returns to action on the 16th when they face the Missouri Tigers at 12:00 CST.
